Eco Friendly Wrapping Ideas

Did you know: most shiny, glittery, and decorated wrapping paper cannot be recycled.

That means allllll that paper wrapped around those wonderfully thought out gifts ends up in our landfill, just sitting there, not going anywhere.

Here are are few more sustainable options to buying rolls and rolls of ‘garbage’ (because lets be real, thats where it ends up)

-Reused wrapping paper. I don’t know about you, but I do my best to salvage wrapping paper at each holiday. I have a tote of gift wrapping options; paper, bags, bows, tissue paper. Especially that extra beautiful paper. Tissue paper is another easy thing to save because it doesn’t typically get taped.

-Gift bags are another simple product to save and reuse. Cut that little tag off and carry on. Want to keep it super simple for future use? Fold the tissue smoothly and place in the bag flat for safe keeping and saves you having to look for tissue when needed.

-Brown kitchen paper (that doesn’t have the plastic layer) is a great way to wrap gifts while keeping the environment in mind. Add to the gift with some nice twine, a dried orange slice, candy cane, or let the little ones go wild with some colours!

-Cloth wrapping bags or towels are a great reusable option. Using a cloth bag with a drawstring really helps take the ‘perfectionism’ out of the wrapping as well! Win win

-Recylcled paper or newspapers. Are you an amazon shopper (no judgement) but save that brown paper that they send to keep your package protected. Iron it out smoothly and use that as wrapping paper. This is my personal fav!

And newspaper, how fun and super easy to personalize! Your recipient into jokes? Wrap with the comic section.

What would you add? How do you make wrapping gifts a little more eco friendly?

If every family wrapped just THREE presents in reused materials, it would save enough paper to cover 45,00 football fields!
